Those who exploited cows will encounter a tough monster

A brand new video that shows how The Witcher 3 developer CD Projekt Red is dealing with players who want to exploit respawnable cows in order to acquire gold has just appeared online. Simply put, the Bovine Protection Initiative added in patch 1.05 just spawns a huge monster that can easily take down players.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt launched last month, and like in any medieval fantasy role-playing game, it's not that easy to earn in-game currency, even if you sell practically everything you loot during your adventures.

A big monster appears for those who exploit cows

As such, players have found different exploits relating to respawnable monsters or animals. While with patch 1.05 CD Projekt Red has eliminated some of these exploits, it has slightly modified one that saw players go to a village, kill the cows, meditate for an hour, and then kill the respawned ones for their hides.

Instead of just no longer spawning cows or altering their loot, meditating for an hour in that cow field sees a massive Chort monsters spawn that, at least for low-level players, is impossible to defeat.

You can see the hilarious thing in the video below, which shows that cows are no longer so easy to mess with in The Witcher 3, following the latest update.

It's enabled by the latest patch on PC & PS4

The change is included in patch 1.05 on PC and update 1.04 for PS4 in some regions like the US and Europe. PS4 owners in the rest of the world as well as Xbox One users must wait until next week for their own version of the update. Until then, they can still casually use the cow exploit to earn a few more coins.

You can expect more such imaginative solutions in the future, as CD Projekt Red has shown that it really wants to think outside the box and surprise its fans.
