Would you buy it?

Most of you Halo fanboys will probably laugh once you find out that there were plans for a Nintendo DS Halo. Laugh all you want, but know that this game existed and was one-step away from going into mass production and on store shelves.

On top of this, there are even some who actually played the game on DS and lived to tell the tale. IGN's Matt is one of them, and posts on his blog the entire story: "Once upon a time, a very smart publisher came up with a brilliant idea. It contacted Microsoft and got the ball rolling on a very unlikely project: Halo for Nintendo DS. Needless to say, there were many egos involved and unfortunately because of some issues that I won't detail, the project was eventually cancelled. But not before it was completely up and running and fully playable. I know all his because I recently learned of the back-story and got a chance to play a leaked build of Halo on DS for myself."

Note that the picture you see in the left is not the real thing, but a shameful mock-up, and according to Matt, the real thing doesn't look much different. He reveals that the Nintendo DS version of Halo plays extremely well, kinda like Metroid Prime (but with a Halo facelift). Apparently, it looked the same as the Xbox version, except on DS, the game was running fast and the controls were responsive.

By the looks of it, the DS version of Halo was very good, and undoubtedly, it would have been a huge success. Just think of a Nintendo and Microsoft alliance, you would wipe Sony off the map.
