All coming this month

The music game genre has seen a massive increase in terms of both sales and popularity in the last year and it seems that things will certainly look up for such titles. Although the two major franchises, Guitar Hero and Rock Band, are dominating the market, other, smaller games are still exploiting some niches with a pretty decent success.

Such is the case with Lips, the Xbox 360 exclusive karaoke game made by Microsoft, which aims to offer players a very lifelike singing experience, complete with a wireless microphone, which, with any luck, might work with Rock Band 2. The game has sold pretty well, and continues to offer some very interesting songs via DLC (Downloadable Content), which gamers can purchase and then sing in Lips.

With January, Microsoft really wants to up the ante and has released the list of songs that will appear this month. These are some pretty star-studded packs, as major singers or groups like The Pussycat Dolls, Maroon 5 or Rihanna will make an appearance in Lips. Their popular songs are sure to make a lot of people purchase these track packs and guarantee a pretty big profit for Microsoft. Here's the complete track list, as found on Kotaku:

Available on January 16

When I Grow Up – The Pussycat Dolls* You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’ – The Righteous Brothers** Erase/Rewind – The Cardigans*

Available on January 23

Hate That I Love You – Rihanna feat. Ne-Yo** Thnks fr th Mmrs – Fall Out Boy* Look What You’ve Done – Jet*

Available on January 30

Sunday Morning – Maroon 5* Take A Bow – Rihanna** Water Runs Dry – Boyz II Men*

All in all, Lips is starting to look like a pretty big title and, with its DLC catalog expanding by leaps and bounds, already having over 70 songs available for download after two months since its release, it will turn into a good investment for any music fan who wishes to purchase a game and test his or her vocal skills.
