Bookies’ favorite Aiden Grimshaw has left X Factor last night, during the results live show. Judges came to deadlock with their votes, with the final say going to the public: and it was Katie who stayed on.

This is the second week that Katie finds herself in the bottom 3 but, as it turns out, someone out there really wants her on the show because she’s made it through once more.

For this week’s sing-off, she chose Christina Aguilera’s “Save Me from Myself” and, as the Daily Mail and the video below can confirm, it more than paid off since she was the one that got to stay.

“Despite going head-to-head with controversial contestant Katie Waissel in the sing-off, Aiden received the lowest amount of public votes,” the Mail writes.

“The 18-year-old left the show after it was taken to deadlock for the first time this series after the judges were split 50/50 between who to save,” the tab further says.

While Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole voted for Katie to stay, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh believed she should be sent home, so they voted for Aiden. In the end, though, it was the public who decided.

Even if it was clear that Aiden didn’t see the elimination coming, he was a gentleman all the way, saying only, “You win some, you lose some,” when host Dermot O’Leary asked him about how he felt at the thought of having to go home.

Aiden’s mentor on the show, Dannii Minogue, was just as upset about the elimination, taking to Twitter after the show to say he will be sorely missed.

“My utmost respect to Aiden. I have loved working with him on X Factor. TeamMinogue will miss him I and wish him the VERY BEST! Dx,” Dannii tweeted.

Also on the results live show, Take That performed together for the first time in 15 years their latest single “The Flood,” while a reformed Westlife also took to the stage for a live rendition of their first single “Safe,” as we were also telling you a short while ago.
