Another console real time strategy title

Console strategy games seem to be the next best thing on which developers and publishers are betting they'll make a few bucks. One of the biggest strategy titles of last year, Red Alert 3, from Electronic Arts, is available on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and is also set to go on the PlayStation 3 later in 2009, while Creative Assembly, a developer well-known for its Total War line of strategy game, is creating a title called Stormrise that is set to debut exclusively on consoles with a specially designed control interface and with an emphasis on tactical battles that take into account height and positioning.

Now, the PlayStation 3 seems to also be getting an exclusive strategy title in the newly unveiled Under Siege, a game that is worked on by Seed Studio, based in Portugal, judging by the names of those involved. Cesar, who is the Community Manager for the studio, posted on the site of Seed to inform players that pre alpha screenshots are now available. You can see one of them attached to this article.

Bruno Ribeiro, who is the lead designer on the game, also posted that “Under Siege features an original world, unique gameplay elements and a control scheme designed with a console controller in mind. We are also working on implementing a large number of multiplayer and community features with special emphasis on user generated content. In the coming months we will share with you info on many of these features, as well as the work involved in creating them. Feel free to comment and give feedback along the way.”

The shots taken from the pre alpha stage of the game seem to show a chilly world filled with little guys sporting rather rudimentary weapons. It's not clear whether Seed Studio is aiming to create something tactical or something more epic with Under Siege or how the game name will be justified. We'll have to wait for more information on the title.
