How would you like to connect your PS3 to a device on the other side of the world?

The PS3's remote functionality is a well known fact that became pretty popular mainly because it gives one the ability to use the machine, even if that person is elsewhere but the room where the machine is. Recently, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe spokesman Jonathan Fargher tried to make it clear for everyone that the PS3's connectivity to other devices is now more possible than ever and growing in possibilities, in an interview with BBC News, posted on PSP Fanboy.

"We're hoping to incorporate that functionality in the very near future-from a local level at the moment to a global level probably within the next six months. If I have my MP3 Walkman or my iPod, or digital camera connected to PS3 then I can access those devices too." What SCEE spokesman Jonathan Fargher is saying is that the PS3 can connect to several devices like the MP3 player, the iPod, a digital camera and others, but we already know these things. What he specifically mentions are the words "global" and "level." Interesting isn't it?

SCEE's spokesman is trying to suggest a complete control over the devices interacting with the PS3 console, which unfortunately will take some time to be implemented and sounds more like Science Fiction rather than science. Playing from the other room will soon become not such a great feature anymore and people will want more diverse abilities with the $600 worth of entertainment system, so for Sony's sake, let's hope they're not wasting their breath and that they are really working on connectivity with a wide broad of devices.
