Almost forty percent of business users in the Nordic region use mobile e-mail when they are away from the office. A recent survey, conducted by Nokia and TeliaSonera, in association with Gallup, showed the great popularity that this service has managed to reach.

The research showed that most mobile email users find this solution to be a highly efficient one for faster and better customer services. The advantages that it brings have really proved to push mobile email towards a strong evolution. The study has proved a difference between male and female users of about 10 percent, in favor of the men. There are high chances for this difference to diminish in time, along with an even wider spread of this service's use.

"From the survey we can clearly see that mobile e-post has made its breakthrough on a broad front. The fact that almost four out of ten respondents are already using mobile e-mail today, when they are away from the office, is an impressive figure. It is also interesting to note that as many as 46 percent of the women managing directors in the survey use mobile e-mail today to check their messages on their phone several times a day. That tells us a lot about the importance of the service", said Heidi Lax, Enterprise Solutions Director for the Nordic region at Nokia.

Nokia and TeliaSonera's interest in the evolution of mobile email comes from their experience with handsets. The two companies have seen a great evolution of this type of service. It looks like business people are the ones who appreciate it most, as it allows them to handle their work even when outside the office. Because of this, they avoid using it when it interferes with their personal life, but consider it to be part of their job.
