Fight death with death... good enough for you?

It might sound strange or childish, but this game actually looks very promising. Dubbed Venetica, it is the result of the collaboration between Deck 13 and dtp entertainment and, among other things, it allows you to control (or become - put it as you wish) the daughter of death!

This role playing game (RPG) promises to mix emotion and action in a unique, free roaming and living world set in the sixteenth century. The story itself is really interesting: in the era of Venetica, Death walks as a flesh and blood among the living, carrying out the deeds of a council called the Corpus. This ancient one has a tough task: to select the predecessor of Death and its members really mess it up when they select a necromancer to do the job. Since the necromancer has other plans (such as bringing death and destruction of the world), there is a huge problem on the horizon. Especially because this smart necromancer turns himself into an undead fiend which can't be killed by any mortal.

However, with their last powers, the members of the Corpus manage to reinstate the previous Death and the problem seems to be solved. They don't know, though, that the necromancer now wants to kill the Corpus and Death in order to become almighty again. There is one problem standing in his way: you. Or, better said, Death's own daughter, Scarlett.

As you can see, the story has lots of potential. Also, if you check the four released screenshots, you'll notice that the graphics look good enough for a RPG that will last at least 20 hours. We're just hoping for the best and, until further notice, we only know that the game will be released for Xbox 360 consoles and PC systems sometime in 2009. PS3 owners will definitely feel hard done-by - Venetica seems to be amazing!
