High Voltage Software, as the developer, and SEGA, as the publisher, have announced that they are partnering up to launch The Conduit 2, a new first person shooter that will be launched exclusively on the Nintendo Wii. The game is set to be released during the fall season of this year and will carry a Teen rating.

The plot of The Conduit 2 will again center on an alien invasion and a single player campaign will be included, alongside multiplayer matches and an-all new Team Invasion mode that will permit gamers to tackle some stages in cooperative mode.

The competitive multiplayer experience will allow for the use of Wii Speak and support 12 players, while the Team Invasion mode will allow four gamers to use the same screen to kill aliens. It's not clear how much the Wii enables High Voltage to actually upgrade the look of The Conduit 2.

Eric Nofsinger, who is the Chief Creative Officer at High Voltage, stated that “The support for the original has been amazing. The fans have always been a major factor in our development process and their continued enthusiasm has helped make Conduit 2 even better,” while Sean Ratcliffe, vice president of marketing at SEGA of America, added that “Not only does it greatly improve and expand on the original, the online and co-op play modes aim to raise the bar for Wii war games.”

In 2009, a host of companies thought that the Nintendo Wii home gaming console was ready to accommodate some more hardcore gaming experiences. SEGA tried to push out Madworld, a game made by Platinum, as the leader of the pack but, despite being an interesting stylized experience, it failed to find a significant audience. The first Conduit title sold about 150,000 copies in its first week in North America and in Europe. Later, SEGA announced that it moved more than 350,000 units.
