More home entertainment solutions to get SRS StudioSound HD sound thanks to Tensilica's HiFi audio DSP

Specializing in audio enhancement solutions for a wide variety of consumer electronics devices, SRS Labs has just announced that Tensilica new HiFi audio DSPs are the first to commercially support SRS StudioSound HD, one of the most advanced audio solutions available for flat panel televisions and sound bars.

Designed in order to be used into popular consumer products ranging from smartphones to digital TVs, home entertainment receivers, and Blu-ray Disc players, Tensilkica's HiFi Audio DSP is optimized in order to use very little power and it supports somewhere in the vicinity of 80 audio/voice codecs.

Now, however, its capabilities are further enhanced by the SRS StudioSound HD certification.

SRS' technology is used in order to detect and level abrupt vocal fluctuations that normally occur when programming switches to a commercial break or when the channels are changed.

It also separates vocals from all the other content and dynamically adjusts the dialog level in order to ensure that it always comes crisp and clean.

In addition, the technology enhances the sound delivered by built-in TV speakers and sound bars in order to add depth and dimension to it while also providing users with faux surround audio.

“We are excited to extend our relationship with Tensilica to bring our home entertainment audio solutions to their HiFi audio IP core,” said Joanna Skrdlant, senior director, Global Platform Partner Program at SRS Labs.

“The HiFi cores are optimally designed to handle advanced audio enhancement processing solutions such as SRS TruVolume, SRS TruSurround HD and now, SRS StudioSound HD.

Tensilica is well respected within the DSP space as a key audio core supplier and we welcome the opportunity to work together to deliver an even greater product with the inclusion of our flagship StudioSound HD all-in-one solution,” concluded the company's rep.

Tensilica's DPUs are licensed by a large number of companies, including AMD, Broadcom, Cisco Systems, Epson, Fujitsu, Intel, LG Electronics, NEC Corporation, Samsung, Sirius XM Radio and Sony, to name just a few.
