Canadian carrier Telus is back with its 72-hours exclusive online sale that offers free smartphones on a one-year term.

Currently, the carrier's promotion comprises four devices, such as: BlackBerry Bold 9700, BlackBerry Pearl 8230, Samsung Advance and LG Cookie Plus.

Although all four devices seem a bit obsolete, the Canadian carrier's exclusive promotion could be a great opportunity for customers who cannot afford one of the newer smartphones available on the market.

All four devices are available online only until May 11th, and requires customers to activate a new 1, 2 or 3 year term with a Voice and Data rate plan of $50 or greater.

Obviously, the carrier can modify eligible rate plans with this offer at any time without advance notice.

Furthermore, it seems that BlackBerry Bold 9700 is by far the best featured of the four, though it's a two-year-old device.

The Bold 9700 is a standard bar BlackBerry smartphone with a typical portrait QWERTY keyboard and touch-sensitive optical trackpad.

The device comes with a small 2.44-inches TFT display with 65K colors support and 480 x 360 pixels resolution.

The HSDPA-enabled smartphone sports a simple 3-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, image stabilization and camcorder.

It packs 256MB of internal memory, 256 MB RAM, as well as microSD card for memory expansion (up to 16GB, 2GB card included).

The phone runs BlackBerry OS v5.0, which is upgradable to v6.0, and is equipped with a single core 624 MHz processor.

BlackBerry Bold 9700 offers users a wide range of connectivity options, including GPRS/EDGE class 10, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, GPS with A-GPS support (BlackBerry Maps) and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP.

When it comes to software, the Bold 9700 offers the typical range of apps and features, including document editor (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF), media player and dedicated video player.
