Canadian wireless carrier Telus has put in place a new special offer for its users, with two highly appealing smartphones, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and the Motorola Milestone available for free on contract.

The promotion started on Monday, but there are still some good 40 hours or so left for those interested in one of these devices to take advantage of it.

What should be noted right from the start is that the deal is available for new activations only, and that those looking to upgrade won't benefit from it.

The 72 hour sale is exclusive for online purchases and includes the aforementioned post-paid devices, along with two pre-paid phones in the carrier's offering, namely the LG Keybo 2 – Refurbished and the LG 490 Fastap – Refurbished.

Free of contract, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and Motorola Milestone would cost $449.99 and $549.99, respectively, while the two prepaid phones are available at usual prices of $59.99 and $49.99, respectively.

According to TELUS, the deal is “available online only until April 27, for clients who activate on a new 1, 2 and 3 year term with a Voice and Data rate plan of $50 or greater. TELUS reserves the right to modify eligible rate plans with this offer at any time without advance notice.”

The good news, of course, is that users would be able to purchase one of the said smartphones for free without committing to a lengthy 3-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier. Not to mention that the smartphones are as appealing as they can be.

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 lands on shelves with a great deal of communication features, along with fast Internet browsing capabilities, access to applications available for download via the Android Market, and with the popular Bold outer design.

The Motorola Milestone was released with Google's Android operating system on board, and provides support for various Google Mobile Services, a large touchscreen display, QWERTY keyboard, access to applications via the Android Market, and more.

Canadian users interested in benefiting from this deal at TELUS should head over to the carrier's website here to learn more on it.
