A good reason to reflect how video games change you as a person

There are moments when even the calmest of the calm lose their minds for a second while playing video games, when the power goes off and all your unsaved game progress is lost. Things happen, people get mad, but usually the situation is still under control. This situation right here is not the same, this one is crazy, just as crazy as a teenager playing video games can get.

The story: 18 years old teenager plays intensely a video game. Dad keeps telling him to stop, but the teenager ignores him. Dad enters the room to teach the boy some discipline and unplugs the power cable. No "save game" during the last hours, no backup data, everything lost. Two blinks, two seconds and the son, the mad, furious son jumps of the sofa and starts strangling his father with the gamepad's cable. Another few seconds of intense fight and the mother enters the room screaming, asking her son to stop. He doesn't, but eventually the mother manages to stop him. A phone call, police arrives, the gamepad cable is still on the ground. A few minutes later, in the hospital, the medical team takes care of the father. The son is in the police van, taken under custody.

Now think: does this crap really have to happen? I found it strange that people are blaming video games for the violent acts other people do, but this is a different story. This really is something that should make people reflect for a second and try to analyze how much they value video games, since, most of all, everything is meant to be entertainment. A great way to have fun, an opportunity for a great experience. Nothing more. No need to get fanatic, no need to lose your mind for something that is as real as the Easter Bunny, no need to lose your mind. No need to lose your mind!

The most important thing one gamer should do before entering any game world is to realize that there is no re-spawning in real life. There is no "quick load" to turn things back as they were. Real life is not a game. Your relatives, your friends and all the other people you don't know are those who make your life beautiful in a way or another. Don't ever get mad at them for anything stupid related to video games, because games are made to be played and enjoyed, not finished as soon as possible. Just think about that!
