14 DAY TRIAL // Of all the “Twilight” stars, Taylor Lautner is clearly the media’s darling, since Robert Pattinson is too shy to give interviews, while, on the other hand, Kristen Stewart is reportedly too stubborn to do so. This leaves 17-year-old star Lautner, who is both affable and willing to connect with the fans via the media, qualities that he also puts on, as shown in his recent interview with Box Office.
As “New Moon” nears release, more and more interviews of this kind are bound to surface and, as fans must already know, few of them will be with the other two leading stars, since Lautner is the almost-official-but-not-quite vehicle through which Summit Entertainment promotes the “Twilight” phenomenon. Not that this makes said interviews less of a pleasure to read, for what it’s worth, especially when the star is so kind and frank about everything.
For instance, fame: Taylor says that, while it’s been almost a year spent in the harshest spotlight, he never quite managed to grow accustomed to being this famous and having so many people scream his name whenever he walks a red carpet. That’s not to say that he wouldn’t date a fan, though, since he still sees himself as a regular guy and, in this sense, a girl he might fancy is still a girl, even if she’s a fan of his character or of the movie franchise or not.
Speaking of “New Moon,” Lautner also says that, even if he did have a say in the matter, he would still not change a single thing about the Bella-Jacob-Edward story / love triangle. “I don’t think he [his character, Jacob Black] would have changed anything, and I don’t think he should change anything. Jacob and Edward are extremely different guys and it’s just whether you want one guy or another. Jacob is himself, and he has a relationship with Bella that Edward doesn’t. And Edward has a relationship with Bella that Jacob doesn’t. So I wouldn’t change a thing.” Lautner says for the aforementioned publication.
“I love Jacob and Bella’s relationship. It’s very different from Edward and Bella’s. Jacob and Bella start off as really good friends. They become best friends – they can tell each other anything, they do whatever together, ride motorcycles. I love that. And then their relationship starts growing into more and more, and you wonder if they’re going to go past friends. I love being able to do that. And work with an amazing actress, Kristen Stewart, and all of the help around us, our director Chris Weitz, the whole crew. It’s a lot of fun.” the actor further says of the upcoming vampire-centered release.
