Telltale Games, which is in charge of developing new adventures featuring the intrepid pirate Guybrush Threepwood, has announced that the first episode of the re-imagined series, called Launch of the Screaming Narwhal, is set to be offered on the WiiWare service from Nintendo beginning today. All those interested in playing it will have to pay 1,000 Wii Points, which is the equivalent of 10 dollars for those still thinking in real world money.

The other Telltale developed adventure games offered via WiiWare were similarly priced. At the moment, this first episode is only offered in North America but the developers are saying that Europe will get an announcement on a release date soon.

Launch of the Screaming Narwhal has already been released on the PC and players have found it to have the same charm and humor present in the initial run of Tales of Monkey Island, which defined the way adventure games were created back in the '90's.

The graphics are well adapted to the story told, with the main characters getting a lot of detail from the artists working on the project. Puzzles are just right, neither too challenging for new comers nor too easy for long time fans of Monkey Island.

The price makes the title a very attractive offer, although the profile of the average Nintendo Wii player indicates that adventure games, which take little advantage of the motion tracking capabilities of the console, might not be high on their priority list.

Telltale is saying that it plans to create other four episodes in the first season of the all new Tales of Monkey Island, which should be arriving monthly on the PC and with a slight delay on WiiWare and on Xbox Live Arcade. The developers are surely planning to offer a second season if the current one is successful.
