Sony Computer Entertainment Europe seems to have understood that branding music games with the name of one band can lead to a higher profile for the title and increased sales, so it has decided to announce the imminent release of SingStar Take That, a new game set to be released before the end of 2009.

The new title should be launched for both the PlayStation 3 and the PS2, and will offer players a chance to experience the entire career of the famous boy band of the 90's. And Sony is going even further as it plans to release a Take That SongPack for the SingStore, containing five tracks from the coming game that players can use for practice before the release of SingStar Take That.

Sony is offering a wide variety of Take That tracks in the upcoming release, both old music, from the beginning of their career, and new music, some coming exclusively to SingStar. At the moment, Sony is only prepared to say that songs like Shine, Back for Good, Could It Be Magic, and Never Forget will be included in the upcoming pack.

SingStar Take That will use the Wireless SingStar microphones that Sony puts out in order to allow gamers to sing harmony portions of the songs (if they manage to get enough guys with great voices together). The PlayStation 3 version of SingStar Take That is set to offer a wide array of extras, like performances of the band and other materials.

Sony is also sponsoring the current United Kingdom tour of Take That so that it can promote the new SingStar game and it’s encouraging fans of the band to also get the track pack that it will release via the SingStore.

Since it was initially released in 2004, the SingStar series has sold more than 16 million copies and more than 4 million tracks have been downloaded for the games in the franchise.
