Tablets are the hot spot of the today’s tech market. Research showed that tablets are going to surpass traditional PC sales, but not everything is going great.

Recent information seemed to indicate that over-saturation had taken its toll on the slate industry, with more and more companies offering the most diverse of models. Even supermarket giants like Tesco have rolled out specially branded tablets to suit their business.

Tablets were also shown to experience a drop in market share in Q2 of this year in some parts of the world.

However, new information provided by market analyst firm NPD claims that things are taking a positive turn. Tapping into information from panel manufacturers, the firm managed to show that panel shipments were back up this July with an increase of 8% compared with the previous month.

The recovery seems to be owed to the fact that new tablets have made their way into the market – most of them 7-inch ones–, which customers are after these days due to their price and appealing feats.

The Research director for Monitor and TV for NPD explained that “It’s been increasingly challenging for Apple, Samsung and other name brands to gain greater market share because low-priced private-label brands continue to dominate the tablet PC market.”
