Video games publisher THQ has announced that it is adopting a new main logo for the company, one which is set to show off the new strategic vision from the company and its commitment to values like innovation and quality.

The new logo, which can be seen in the screenshot attached to this article, has sleeker lines than the previous one and delivers a splash of color to the THQ name.

It's unlikely that the new logo will actually have an important impact for THQ as the video games industry is more concerned about the quality of experiences delivered than in small debates about logo design, likes those linked to GAP or Starbucks in recent months.

Brian Farrell, who is the president and the chief executive officer of THQ, has stated when the new logo was shown off that “Our new logo epitomizes the change, innovation and creative growth that are the cornerstones of the new THQ. By developing triple-A, innovative, original intellectual properties, attracting the top talent in the industry, and placing that talent first, THQ continues to redefine itself. This new logo seeks to capture that change and make it tangible.”

The executive added that “THQ is proving its commitment to deliver the best experience to gamers through internally developed original intellectual properties (Homefront™ and uDraw™), creative partnerships, (Guillermo del Toro and Tomonobu Itagaki) and new talent acquisitions (Patrice Désilets), in order to solidify its position as a flagship publisher of extraordinary interactive entertainment.”

There are two significant titles coming from THQ in the coming months: Homefront and Dawn of War II – Retribution.

The first is a shooter based around the idea that Americans have to fight off an invasion from North Korea, with a deeper emphasis on story than rival series Call of Duty and with a feeling closer to Red Dawn.

Retribution is the second expansion for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II and will allow the player to control six different races, including the fearsome Tyranids.
