Movie and game will hit the market at the same time... in the faaar away future

It seems that, in the games world, it's always better to be prepared for future releases and sign agreements way before knowing 100% what the result will be. At least that's the impression we have after hearing that THQ and DreamWorks Animation have signed a partnership which will have as result at least one video game. The interesting thing? THQ's game will be launched at the same time with the next DreamWorks title, Master Mind, which is scheduled to be released no sooner than November 2010.

This agreement could also mean that THQ might be up for a real well done job and they'll start working on the title right now in order to bring us the best possible experience which, of course, would be absolutely great and we would have nothing against it. But we know the general rule of thumb is that games inspired by movies are generally bad (and vice-versa, thanks to Uwe Boll), so we can't say we have really high hopes for this title, either.

However, its story is really nice and it could lead to some great games if used well: the movie, Master Mind, is about a super villain who accidentally kills his life-long archrival (Uberman), and must find new ways to motivate himself to do bad things. Sweet, right?

"The DreamWorks Animation brand is among the best in animation and storytelling," said Brian Farrell, President and CEO, THQ. "The superhero theme of the fall 2010 film project lends itself seamlessly to an interactive gaming adventure. DreamWorks' creative vision and humor will add another dimension to our portfolio, which we believe will help further distinguish both THQ and DreamWorks as leaders in our respective entertainment categories."

Also, another interesting thing is that, even though there are still two years and a half left until the movie is released, both THQ and DreamWorks have started talking about the development of a franchise based on the movie's plot. I know it's a great one but... isn't it a little bit too early?
