Mobile phone maker Motorola announced a while ago that its high-end Motorola MILESTONE, available in the United States via Verizon Wireless as DROID, would arrive soon in Canada on the airwaves of TELUS, but no specific launch date was unveiled. Previous rumors suggested that the end of January might be the lucky time frame, but that month is gone now, and MILESTONE still is no show on the shelves in Canada.

However, it seems that things are finally getting closer to become reality, as the mobile phone maker has just put in place a new page on its website, specifically designed for those Canadian mobile phone users interested in the Android 2.0-based handset, where they can pre-register to receive updates on the phone's arrival. At the same time, the handset can be also spotted on TELUS' website as coming soon, with a link to the same pre-registration page.

The Motorola MILESTONE is set to deliver a great deal of high-end specs to Android enthusiasts in Canada, that's for sure. The mobile phone comes to the market with a 3.7-inch TFT touchscreen display that boasts a 480 x 854 pixel (WVGA) resolution, sports a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard, and a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, Dual LED flash, and video recording capabilities at 24 fps.

At the same time, the handset includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b, g connectivity, Micro USB, Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, GPS receiver, media player with support for a great deal of audio and video file formats, support for a wide range of Google services, as well as for applications that can be downloaded and installed via the Android Market, support for social networking sites like Facebook, and more. It is powered by a 1400 mAh Li-Ion battery, measures 2.4 x 4.6 x .5 inches (60.00 x 115.80 x 13.70 mm) and weighs in at 6 oz (169 grams). No details on the price tag it might feature at TELUS emerged for the time being.
