Mobile phone carrier T-Mobile is ramping up for the launch of the high-end HTC HD2 handset, and it seems that it might make it available for purchase as soon as March 23. The wireless operator has reportedly sent out invites to a March 16 event in New York City, and it is expected to announce the exact availability of the phone at that date. In the meantime, we can have a look at some unboxing photos with the device, which emerged over at BGR.

Even if it won't taste the new Windows Phone 7 OS from Microsoft, the HTC HD2 still remains one of the hottest handsets on the market today. Moreover, T-Mobile is set to launch it with a series of enhancements when compared to the HD2 model put on sale in other markets around the world, something that should increase its appeal even more.

In case there are some of you who might not know what the enhancements include, we should mention the availability of 576MB RAM with it (non-US have only 448MB available by default), as well as the inclusion of a series of applications and services to enhance the user experience it can deliver. The HTC HD2 is expected to land at T-Mobile as a true entertainment powerhouse, and it seems that the wireless carrier will demonstrate that on March 16 at the aforementioned event.

Previously, the HD2 was rumored to be slated for release on March 24, but MobiTV says that it will arrive on March 23 and, considering that their app will be pre-loaded on the handset, this seems to be the actual launch date in the end. T-Mobile will hold the HD2-related event in less than a week from now, and all the necessary details should be unveiled at that time, so stay tuned. In the meantime, take a look at the unboxing photos with the device, which BGR has recently published.
