14 DAY TRIAL // Following T-Mobile's partnership with 7-Eleven to offer pre-paid services via the popular chain of stores, the carrier has announced that it has signed a new agreement with another famous company, Family Dollar Stores, Inc.
Under agreement, the carrier will offer a T-Mobile prepaid device in nearly 6,000 Family Dollar locations, which is one of the fastest-growing discount retail chains in the United States.
Basically, T-Mobile USA will offer Family Dollar customers an affordable T-Mobile prepaid phone, the LG GS170. The cheap handset will be available for purchase for only $30 (plus taxes and fees).
LG GS170 is the same clamshell that can be purchase in all 7-Eleven stores for the same price and offers users only the basic features of a mobile phone. “T-Mobile is excited to work with Family Dollar to offer an affordable prepaid device to its customers who seek value and convenience when shopping. T-Mobile is delivering great prices, simplicity and a nationwide 4G network with our prepaid products, which we know Family Dollar customers will find appealing,” said Amy McCune, vice president of national retail, T-Mobile USA.
Among the most interesting features of the GS170 is the intuitive user interface with one-touch speakerphone, the large visible keys and a high-resolution color display.
Furthermore, the clamshell sports a sub-par VGA camera, as well as MP3 ringtone capability, and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity. Text and picture messaging capability are also available for users, including email support.
According to T-Mobile, all invoicing, shipping and supply functions, as well as other operational and fulfillment needs, will be handled through a partnership with Brightstar.
It appears that this will be the first from a new line of T-Mobile devices available via Family Dollar stores, which is supposed to highlight the carrier's products, along with other wireless offerings.
It is also worth mentioning, that Family Dollar customers can take advantage of T-Mobile's affordable No Annual Contract Monthly4G plans, including the $50 per month plan featuring unlimited talk, unlimited text and unlimited Web.
