WaveMarket, one of the global leaders in the location-based and applications industry, has announced that the Veriplace Cloud Location Platform Initiative has received a new and important member, namely T-Mobile USA, Inc. According to the carrier, by joining the Veriplace Location Platform Initiative, it is enabled to grant access to location infrastructure to more than 1,000 third-party developers. The Veriplace Platform provides access to location information from T-Mobile smartphones, as well as feature phones including Android-based devices.

WaveMarket's Veriplace Location Aggregation Platform will provide an easier way for voice applications, SMS, mobile web and other types of applications to track smartphones and feature phones. This will be possible using Veriplace's links to all the major wireless carrier networks in the United States. With the arrival of T-Mobile, the Veriplace platform will be able to give the developers the option to remotely access the location of more than 150 million devices across the US.

"We're pleased to provide innovative, secure solutions for our customers to stay connected with family and friends through location-aware services," Ray Froelich, director, product development, T-Mobile USA, said. "Joining this initiative empowers developers with opportunities to deliver inventive mobile communications solutions to our customers."

Various developer services and applications built on Veriplace will be able to use a single API in order to locate devices across multiple carriers, this way drastically reducing the complexity of certain location technologies. Also, due to the fact that Veriplace's platform uses the wireless network infrastructure, devices will be easily located even indoors employing various location techniques and technologies. Veriplace also offers a reliable solution for protecting its customers’ privacy and security.

"Veriplace protects end-user privacy while offering application developers a single web-services API to locate more than 150 million devices on multiple carriers," Tasso Roumeliotis, founder and CEO, WaveMarket, said. "We're thrilled to enable our developer partners to offer innovative location-aware services to T-Mobile USA's customers."
