Mobile phone carrier T-Mobile USA announced, about a month ago, plans to kick off a Voice Plus Beta program for the owners of a G1 device, and now the company revealed the availability of the service. The new Voice Plus Beta program is meant to offer the carrier's customers the possibility to easily manage calls and voicemail on their mobile phones and has been launched exclusively for those owning a G1 device.

Those willing to try out the service will have to download and install the Voice Plus Beta application on their device. However, the carrier notes that one will have to backup all data on the device prior to installation, as the app will need an update for G1's software, which will erase all settings and user data from the device.

After the app has been installed, users will have a series of new features to enjoy with it, including: - Call Divert: Carve out a little peace and quiet by sending selected numbers straight to voicemail without ringing your phone. - Call Defer: Let callers know you’re busy and schedule a convenient time for you to call them back. Send them a text message that acknowledges their call and that you will respond at a later time. - Visual Voicemail: Easily manage your voicemail! View a list of who left a voicemail, with the time of the message and its length. Choose which to listen to now and which to review later. - City ID: Get more information about the calls you receive. The city and state information of incoming calls is displayed.

The wireless operator also notes that the new program is available only for G1 owners due to the fact that it is in its early stages of development, and that T-Mobile G1 customers are testing it. Those who are interested in the service should head over to the carrier's forums, where they will find all the necessary details on the service, as well as on the installation of the new Voice Plus Beta application.
