Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 owners on T-Mobile UK's network will soon taste a new software update for their devices, none other than the long-awaited Android 2.1 solution, the wireless carrier has just confirmed.

Following the availability of this Android 2.1 software update for unlocked Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 handsets on the UK market, the wireless carrier confirmed that it plans on pushing the solution out to its users next week.

According to a recent tweet from T-Mobile UK, the 2.1 firmware update for the X10 is expected to roll-out next week for both Xperia X10 and Xperia X10 mini pro handsets on the carrier's airwaves.

“For those Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and Mini Pro users, we’re expecting the Android 2.1 update to be available for download next week,” the aforementioned tweet reads.

T-Mobile UK is not the first wireless carrier in the country to deliver the software to its users, as O2 already announced that the software is being sent out to Xperia X10 owners.

A nice range of enhancements has been included in the new firmware, and the experience users receive from their devices should be greatly improved.

Of course, Sony Ericsson was quite late with the delivery of this solution, and T-Mobile delayed the release even more, but the good news is that the software would soon arrive on handsets.

We already detailed some of the improvements that the new software will have to offer, but, in case there are some who might have missed our previous reports on the matter, here's what to expect from the update:

Xperia X10: • HD video recording with continuous auto-focus for high quality videos • Upgrade of the Android platform to Android 2.1 • New backup and restore application, with extended content back up • 5 homescreens for apps, widgets, shortcuts and folders • Social phonebook which automatically syncs contact pictures from Facebook and shows when your friends are online

Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro: • Improved Bluetooth functionality with support for sending and receiving pictures, contacts and more • New backup and restore application with extended content back up • Automatic synchronization of your contact pictures between Facebook and your phone book • Improved ways of handling pictures, audio, text and numbers in your messages • Upgrade of the Android platform to Android platform 2.1
