Wireless carrier T-Mobile UK announced recently the addition of a new Android-based mobile phone to its offering, the T-Mobile Pulse Mini. As reported before, the new handset will become available from the carrier as an affordable device, being priced at only £99.99 on pay as you go, and the carrier will include it in a lineup that already features five other Android-based mobile phones, including the Samsung Galaxy Portal (i5700) and LG InTouchMax (GW620), which were announced in January.

The new Pulse Mini comes as the slimmer version of T-Mobile Pulse, is manufactured by Huawei, and sports a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash, a 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD memory card slot with support for up to 16GB of additional storage space, and the Android 2.1 operating system on board.

Nicola Shenton, head of Handset and Device Marketing, T-Mobile UK said, “We want to make sure all our customers get the chance to experience Android, which is why we’re expanding our family of Android devices. The Pulse Mini will no doubt prove a big hit with customers looking for cutting-edge smartphone features without the commitment of a monthly contract.”

According to the wireless operator, the announcement on Pulse Mini is another milestone for the company, following the release of the first ever Android-based mobile phone in October 2008, the T-Mobile G1. Android has already proven a successful OS for the mobile phone carrier, and it is expected to become even more popular in the future, T-Mobile UK notes.

The new T-Mobile Pulse Mini at £99.99 will join the Samsung Galaxy Portal (i5700) and LG InTouchMax (GW620) in T-Mobile's lineup of affordable devices for users. The Galaxy Portal is available in an exclusive black edition with the carrier and can be purchased for £20 a month on a pay monthly contract. As for LG InTouchMax, the first Android-based handset from LG, it brings a 5-megapixel camera and a 3-inch touchscreen display to users for the same £20 a month, on a 24-month pay monthly contract.
