T-Mobile US has announced via Facebook, earlier than expected, that Galaxy Tab prices have been dropped to $249.99 with a new two-year contract.

T-Mobile's Galaxy Tab comes with Amazon's Kindle eReader app and access to Media Hub, Samsung's own content service, which offers a wide range of popular movies for rent or purchase, as well as TV programs for purchase.

The tablet packs a 3-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, video recording capabilities (720x480@30fps), but also a 1.3-megpapixel secondary front-facing camera for video calls.

Galaxy Tab is powered by an ARM Cortex A8 1 GHz processor (PowerVR SGX540 graphics) and features full HD video playback capabilities (up to 7 hours) and support for Adobe Flash 10.1.

Other key features of the Android tablet include Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, GPS with A-GPS support, proprietary USB 2.0, 512 MB RAM, 16GB internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 16Gb card included).

Samsung has recently announced that its first Android tablet, Galaxy Tab topped 2 million units sold since its launch in October last year.

According to the manufacturer, the Galaxy Tab is being retailed in 94 countries through no less than 200 mobile carriers.

Even though the tablet was launched as a response to Apple's iPad, the device's sales came nowhere near close to the iPad's.

Samsung stated that over 500,000 Galaxy Tab units were shipped in Europe, along with 350,000 tablets that were sold on the North American market.

Furthermore, the Korean manufacturer said that more than 330,000 Galaxy Tab units were rolled out on the Asian market.

T-Mobile's announcement comes just in time as the manufacturer plans to release the Galaxy Tab 2 at the 2011 Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona.

Starting February 14, we will be there to keep you up to date with live reports on the latest product launches and presentations.
