14 DAY TRIAL // T-Mobile brought some official images and specifications for the Sidekick LX and Sidekick Slide phones. Rumors have been pouring in regarding their future release and the new details coming from the operator confirm that previous information was correct.
The two devices have been cut down in size to a more slender figure. Sidekick LX will come at 21.8 mm, while the Slide one will be even slimmer, at 17,2 mm. That might not sound like very compact devices, but they prove to be so when compared to previous models. This should only increase its already high popularity level in the US amongst young people.
The two Sidekick models feature similar performances. They will both have 1.3 megapixel cameras and microSD card slots that support cards up to 4GB. A more evolved camera would have been great, although the LX has also flash for better quality. Still, the extra data storage space should prove handy in storing even more personal media files on the device. Moreover, both of them will also include MMS message support.
Sidekick LX comes equipped with a 3 inch screen which is actually a Sharp Aquos LCD. It supports a resolution of 400 x 240 pixels, great for watching videos and images. The QWERTY keypad has also been improved to make it easier to type large texts. The device will be available in dark brown and midnight blue.
Sidekick Slide's display will be only half of the other phone's size, at 1.5 inch. It will support a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels that will make it look great, although it is only a 65k TFT one. This is the main feature that sets these two devices apart and is also obvious in their prices.
Sidekick LX will be available for current T-Mobile subscribers on October 17th and for new users on October 24th for USD 300 with a 2-year agreement. The Sidekick Slide will be available starting November 7th for USD 200 with a 2-year agreement.
