Wireless carrier T-Mobile is getting closer to making a new version of the popular myTouch 3G available for purchase for its users, namely the myTouch 3G Slide. Set to land on shelves on June 2, the handset is expected to sport a price tag of $179 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the carrier, while bringing a sliding QWERTY keyboard in an already popular design.

Those T-Mobile customers interested in the new mobile phone can already head over to the carrier's website to register for updates on when it becomes available for purchase. June 2 is roughly a week ahead, and the wireless carrier is preparing for the big day, while also offering its users more opportunities to stay up to date with its plans.

“The myTouch 3G Slide smartphone with Faves Gallery, myModes and the Genius Button keeps your closest family and friends front and center,” the carrier notes on its website. “The innovative features on the new myTouch 3G Slide smartphone connect you more easily, more quickly and more often to the people you care about most,” the pre-registration page reads.

Among the main features of the new device, we can count a large 3.4-inch touchscreen display, coupled with that new full QWERTY keyboard, a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and flash, and an improved user interface. Moreover, in case the physical keyboard is not enough, users can always try out the Swype virtual keyboard preloaded on the device. In addition, they will find it easy to download a wide range of applications from the Android Market.

One other important detail that should be mentioned when it comes to the new T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide is that it should receive an update to the latest Android OS flavor too. HTC already announced plans to make the move, and the update is expected to land shortly after the launch. Also after the release of Slide, the original myTouch 3G should taste a new OS upgrade, which was said to bring forth the same UI as on the slider version.
