Symbian has recently announced their latest version of the world's leading mobile device operating system, Symbian OS v9.5. The new version of the OS will be compatible with all versions of the v9 family including several key enhancements like higher performance for lower hardware cost and faster time to market.

Symbian OS v 9.5 introduces new hardware adaptation interfaces for digital TV and location based services making it cheaper and easier to bring popular services to the mass market.

It was designed for richer user experience and will allow the smartphones that run it to support rich multimedia experiences with camera features that are very similar to standalone digital cameras, including 35 new features like image orientation following tilt sensor, preset image enhancements, auto focus spots, panorama stitch, image distortion correction and more.

The smartphones running the new Symbian v9.5 will also include useful features for business users enabling them to be more productive and save calling costs with WiFI-3G connection roaming. Those users will be able to use services as push-email and VoIP over WiFI when in the office and automatically switch to 3G when on the move. Real-time networking will ensure that VoIP is not interupted when other IP-based services make a connection.

The introduction of Brahmic script in Symbian OS v9.5 extends its support of languages to cover around 99 percent of the world countries. Moreover, it supports HSDPA, HSUPA and digital TV, being the only true global mobile OS that powers high-end devices as well as mid-range mobile phones. Due to all the advantages it offers, Symbian currently has over 70 percent of the market share and provides great flexibility and choice to leading handset vendors.
