A new version of Swype for Symbian is now available for download for the owners of a handset based on S60 5th Edition and Symbian^3 platform releases, with a long list of fixes and enhancements included into the mix. The new application flavor is available only in a Beta state for the time being, so that it can be further tested before the final release is made available for download.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Swype provides users with a virtual keyboard aimed at making typing on the small screen of handsets much faster than before.

The Symbian app still needs a series of touches before making it in a final release, yet the currently available Swype for Symbian 2.0 Beta looks very promising, it seems.

“A long awaited update to Swype for Symbian is now available. We’ve taken your feedback from our first Beta, incorporated several cutting edge features currently available in Android, and come up with our best input solution yet for Symbian,” a post on Nokia Beta Labs reads.

Some of the main enhancements that the new application flavor comes along with include:

- Portrait and split-screen support for devices with Symbian Anna - Cutting-edge predictive tap auto-correction engine - 30 downloadable language dictionaries - Many incremental UX changes based on Nokia and Android Beta Labs feedback - Hundreds of bug fixes. Too many to list!

As stated above, the new application version is available for download for all handsets running under S60 5th Edition and Symbian^3, yet users will need to make sure that they choose the right installation package, because the wrong version of Swype could cause unwanted behavior on handsets.

The mobile application arrives with support for the following languages: English US, English UK, Spanish, Portuguese BR, and French CA.

However, those who would like to enjoy the application in a different language will be able to download one of the 30 additional language packs that Swype already made available.
