T-Mobile USA, Inc and Swype announced recently the signing of an agreement which will result in the inclusion of Swype’s intuitive text input solution on T-Mobile touchscreen-enabled mobile phones. According to the duo, the first handset to sport the innovative text input technology is the new version of T-Mobile myTouch 3G, which was unveiled officially on Wednesday.

The Swype input technology won't be included only on the new Android-based mobile phone from the carrier, but will also come on future handsets T-Mobile will release on its airwaves. Among these devices, we can count the HTC HD2, a Windows Mobile 6.5-based handset which is set to become available in the US via T-Mobile this spring.

“T-Mobile has always been on the forefront of introducing new devices and ground breaking technologies and now has embraced Swype’s stunningly responsive text input for its touch screen lineup,” said Mike McSherry, CEO, Swype. “Launching on the Android platform is a major milestone for Swype as we continue to expand to new touch screen devices and platforms.”

What Swype’s software will deliver to customers includes a faster and more intuitive way to input text when using a touchscreen mobile phone, due to the fact that it comes with a high degree of error tolerance. Since the market of touchscreen phones is on the rise, the Swype solution should revolutionize the space by offering ease of use to more mobile platforms available into the wild.

George Harrison, vice president, marketing product innovation, T-Mobile USA said, "Consumers have been vocal in their demand for a more intuitive and efficient way to use a virtual keyboard on touch screen devices. As T-Mobile continues to drive innovation for the benefit of our customers, the addition of Swype to T-Mobile products places our customers at the forefront of this new solution."

According to Swype, its solution has been developed so as to work on a wide range of mobile operating systems, as well as on various devices on the market, including phones, tablets, game consoles, or GPS units. Not to mention that it comes with support for over 30 languages at the moment, and that it can learn new words, as well as “phone numbers and more data unique to its owner.”
