Singer Susan Boyle was supposed to return to the US for a special live performance on the popular ABC dance competition Dancing With the Stars – sadly, it has been canceled.

Though fans in the US were probably not expecting to hear about Susan’s return so soon after the America’s Got Talent debacle, which saw her leave the country in tears, the singer was scheduled for a surprise appearance on DWTS.

TMZ is the one to break the news of Susan’s performance the other day, as well as the one to learn that it won’t happen because of the singer’s health.

“Susan Boyle will not be appearing on Tuesday’s episode of Dancing with the Stars due to illness,” TMZ says.

“As we first reported, Susan was set to sing ‘Hallelujah’ on the show tomorrow. But a rep for the show confirmed to TMZ she won’t be appearing this week – no word yet on rescheduling,” the same report reads.

At the time this came out, it was not known what was ailing Susan, save that she had missed her flight, which meant she couldn’t make it at the appointed hour to tape her appearance.

Later on, a publicist for the singer confirmed the news, saying she had been taken ill with a throat infection – and that her doctor had advised her not to travel and to get proper rest.

“Susan Boyle has had to cancel her performance on Dancing with the Stars as her doctor advised her not to sing due to a severe throat infection,” a publicist for the singer says.

“Susan is very upset at letting her fans down. Their continued support means so much to her,” the same statement reads.

Since, this time, it wasn’t something that was rendered impossible by a third party, but Susan’s health that prevented her to perform, it is believed chances are good she reschedules her appearance on DWTS.

After all, she lives to sing, because it’s the best way she can communicate with so many people at once, as she also writes in her book, “The Woman I Was Born to Be,” out soon.

“The room was silent and then somebody cheered, another person whistled and the place was rocking with applause. I had discovered a way of communicating. It was like finding the key to a box of jewels, lifting the lid and feeling the sparkling reflection lighting up my face,” Susan says in the book, as we also reported yesterday.
