Singing sensation Susan Boyle was invited to perform on the US counterpart of the show that launched her, America’s Got Talent, but left in tears after a songwriter refused to let her sing his song.

Susan, who was discovered last year during auditions of Britain’s Got Talent, has long conquered the entire world with her amazing voice, which, in turn, has translated into excellent sales for her debut album.

However, even if she has nearly the entire world in the palm of her hand, it would seem that there’s one songwriter who doesn’t even want her to perform his songs.

TMZ reports Lou Reed refused to give his permission to Susan to perform “Perfect Day” on the show, despite the fact that she had already flown in and was ready to go to work.

The singer left the stage in tears – and was reportedly so heartbroken over the snub she was still crying when she arrived at LAX to catch a flight back home to the UK.

“TMZ has learned Susan Boyle has left Los Angeles in tears after being snubbed by a songwriter who refused to let her sing one of his hits on America’s Got Talent. Susan arrived to L.A. earlier today to perform the song Perfect Day on the show,” the e-zine says.

“Producers needed permission from the songwriter, Lou Reed – the former lead singer for The Velvet Underground and famous for ‘Walk on the Wild Side’ - but at the last minute they were informed that Reed refused permission because he isn’t a Boyle fan,” TMZ further says.

“When Boyle found out, she dissolved into tears – unprepared to change her tune for the show. We’re told Boyle went to LAX this afternoon – still in tears – and is catching a flight back to London,” the same report reads.

Separately, the Daily Mail also offers confirmation of the incident, saying Reed’s refusal nearly broke Susan’s heart.

“Susan is very sensitive and is genuinely upset. This has really knocked her confidence,” an unnamed, but admittedly reliable source says for the British publication.

“She was in a car on the way to the studio when she was told the news and was totally devastated. She’s now at LAX Airport sobbing her heart out,” says the same spy.

Contacted for comment, producers for America’s Got Talent were not immediately available and are yet to address these rumors.
