Now that solid state drives are getting more capacious and reliable, it falls to companies to come up with new ways of differentiating their product offers from the fold. Not long ago, Super Talent decided to see what would happen if it unleashed a dual-interface model with both SATA and USB connectors. Now, the same outfit has resolved to further expand its lineup, only this time by looking to the industrial sector and its ever present need for durability and support for legacy interfaces.

The two storage solutions that the company prepared go by the names of DuraDrive ET2 and DuraDrive ZT2 and have form factors of 2.5 inches and 1.8 inches, respectively. Also, the former communicates via the PATA interface, whereas the latter comes equipped with a ZIF connector. Basically, they focus on reliability and productivity-enhancing traits while still making sure to enable a decent level of performance. For instance, they work at between -40ºC and 85ºC, boast bad bit management, come with wear leveling technology and read and write at 125 MB/s and 110 MB/s, respectively.

"The new DuraDrive Series demonstrates Super Talent's commitment to our customers. While other manufactures are focused on large volume products for the masses, SuperTalent is focused on designing products for customers who are looking for more. SuperTalent is making durable industrial spec products, supporting legacy interfaces and less common form factors," said Super Talent COO, CH Lee.

The Super Talent DuraDrive ET2 PATA unit is constructed out of MLC (multi-level cell) NAND Flash memory chips, whereas the DuraDrive ZT2 is composed of SLC (single-level cell). Their prices have not been disclosed, but this final detail should surface soon, considering that shipments are slated to begin before the month is out. The list of storage capacities will span the entire 16GB-256GB range (16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB).
