Super Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Oni revealed that he still hasn't gotten approval from higher Capcom executives to bring new downloadable characters to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the popular fighting game.

Super Street Fighter IV, as most fighting game fans know, appeared on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 a few months ago, and packed in a lot of new characters as opposed to the original Street Fighter IV which hit back in 2008.

It also had improved balancing between characters, and better animations, fact which made Capcom charge full price for what many gamers considered as a glorified update and downloadable content package.

Now, after Super Street Fighter IV hit home consoles, it is also getting ready to hit Japanese arcades, and will bring a few new characters, including Yun and Yang from Street Fighter III, and a few new features.

As you can imagine, fans immediately started asking Capcom to bring the two characters to the home consoles as soon as possible.

Sadly, it seems that Yoshinori Ono hasn't managed to persuade Capcom executives, even though his direct boss, Keiji Inafune, gave it green light.

"I couldn't got approval from [upper level staff], but I'll continue [the] proposal!" Ono explained on Twitter. "I got approval from my boss, Keiji Inafune, but I can't [get] it from [upper level staff]."

These are definitely some bad news for Street Fighter fans, but after the arcade version hits, perhaps Capcom executives will change their minds and let console players enjoy the new characters in their own games.

Until then, the Japanese company is focusing all of its efforts on its next big fighting game, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, which will hit next year on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and boast a wide array of characters from both Capcom and the Marvel comics universe.
