Capcom has just confirmed to the world that the PC version of the upcoming Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition will see its harsh anti-piracy measures be loosened through the release of a patch right when it is released or shortly after that.

The Japanese company kicked up a hornet's nest when it detailed what Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition for the PC brought forth, alongside its rather unique anti-piracy protection system.

Basically, if players weren't connected to the Internet, they'd be stuck with an extremely basic version of the game that offered access to just a limited number of fighters.

Now, after pretty serious backlash from fans, Capcom's Chris Svensson, the company's senior vice-president, revealed that the anti-piracy system is going to be toned down in order to let players experience a bigger part of the game even if they're not connected to the Internet.

"Shortly after launch (it might even be at launch, but we’ll see how submission timing and approval goes) we will roll out a small title update that will completely remove the character limitations for offline mode. That is to say, once you’ve updated, you will be able to use all 39 characters when not connected to the Internet to practice your combo timings, have some fun with a friend on a laptop, or whatever while offline."

Svensson does emphasize that the best experience with Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition for the PC will be when connected to the web, including access to online multiplayer, replay sharing and watching, or registering achievements.

The executive does express the desire of his company to increase its PC market share with the upcoming game, so the concerns of fans are always going to be listened to.

"With that hurdle hopefully now cleared, I hope that we can make Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition the most successful fighting game ever on PC. I’d certainly like to continue to grow our audience on the largest platform in the world."

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition will be released at the end of July as a standalone title, for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, as well as DLC for console owners who already had the simple Super Street Fighter IV.
