Let's hope we see a polished up Chun-Li next week

Since Capcom revealed their plans of releasing Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, every week or so they've rolled out screens of the game's "reworked" characters. Ken and Akuma have been seen so far. This week's polished up Street Fighter character is none other than colonel William F. Guile, as I found via 1UP.

Although his role in the Street Fighter story is minimal, he is considered the third leading male character in the series, after Ryu and Ken, largely due to his effectiveness as a character and his popularity. In the live action Street Fighter movie, Guile is given the full name of William F. Guile with the military rank of colonel, although Capcom did not canonize it.

Capcom says that the full game will be running at 1080p. The developer actually says that this is what the characters look like if you take the background out, the site mentioned above reported a while ago.

About two months ago, Capcom confirmed online play, a training mode, voice chat, rankings/leaderboards, different matchmaking options and stat tracking, for the game. It is looking towards a fall release, because of timing differences between the download schedules for PS3 and 360, via PSN and XBLA. However, the two versions will not be available for download for the two services on the same day, Capcom's senior director of strategic planning and research, Christian Svensson, assured then that they "will be coordinating such that they are within a week of each other."

Finally, here's what is known about the development process. Capcom's Christian Svensson stated: "The programming and the project management is all being handled by Backbone, but there are multiple people working on this project. As I mentioned [in my speech earlier], Udon Comics is handling the majority of the art tasks as far as root creating all the art. Backbone will be pulling it all together, and making it all work."

Who do you thing will be polished next week? The graceful Vega? The sexy Chun-Li perhaps...? She is one of the earliest female video game protagonists to achieve fame. That is, if Capcom decides to roll out another screenshot so soon...
