As we've come to expect from Samsung, the Korean company's been particularly active at CES 2011, rolling out hordes upon hordes of new and attractive products, including here a brand-new lineup of 3D-capable plasma displays, including 16 new models across six product families. First and foremost, it's important to mention that, according to Samsung, all of the 2011 PDPs feature the Plasma+1 design, which includes a narrow bezel design that adds 1” of viewable screen size over last year’s products, beside making them even more visually-attractive.

The first product line we'll talk about as follows is Samsung’s Plasma D8000 Series, that sports a dark metallic bezel combined with Samsung’s ToC border, for a very attractive and elegant design.

The D8000 series features Real Black Filter technology, which reduces the onscreen glare, as well as Samsung’s proprietary Crystal Full HD engine with Cinema Smooth technology and a dynamic contrast ratio of 3,000,000:1.

Moreover, this model is compatible with Samsung's own 3D glasses and multi-display Touch Control, a remote that doubles as a second portable TV, while also featuring a QWERTY keyboard for easy text input during web browsing and acts as a universal remote control for onscreen content.

The second line of 3D-capable PDPs presented by Samsung is the Plasma D6500 Series, that can alsop up-convert 2D content and render it in high-definition 3D, while also packing built-in Wi-Fi for easy and fast connection to the Internet.

“Samsung continues to deliver against its promise to create products that evolve with the needs and desires of our customers. We expect 3D and smart TV features to become mainstream as people realize the benefits,” said Sangchul Lee, Senior Vice President, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.

“Such immersive and smart entertainment is best experienced on larger screens and our Plasma+1 feature, a result of breakthrough engineering and design, means more people can enjoy this at home without an increase in cost,” Mr. Lee added, while, unfortunately, not providing any exact pricing and availability details for these new ultra-slim PDPs.
