There are quite a lot of people out there (kids, especially) who're a bit afraid of the dark and thus need to leave a night-light on, a practice that, with the help of the newly-introduced Sunset Dimmer, can be “adjusted” in order to lead to some power savings.

The Sunset Dimmer is actually extremely easy to use, since it will simply prompt one to plug the lamp in it, the device automatically starting on power up.

Despite having quite an useful role, the Sunset Dimmer is quite a no-frills device, with very little adjustable features.

In fact, it will always dim, since there's no "always on" setting (in other words, if the light is on, the timer is on as well).

However, the device does come equipped with a large button that restarts the timer, while the small button "in" dims to nightlight and the small button "out" dims to off.

The timer can also be restarted by turning lamp switch off for 2 seconds and then back on, and the dimmer will work on any power outlet.

In fact, if you connect the dimmer to an outlet controlled by a wallswitch, you can also restart the timer by flipping the wallswitch off for 2 seconds and then back on, which ensures the fact that you'll never leave the lights on again.

Designed with children in mind, the folks at G2 Product Solutions have found that the Sunset Dimmer is gaining in popularity with adults, too, as the testimony of a customer, Audrey from St. John, IN, reveals: "I have two sunset dimmers in my home. My mother-in-law is 87 years old and has recently moved in. She needs to navigate the house at night, so I put one in the hallway on the dim to night light setting, so she can make her way to the bathroom and back without falling”.

The user goes on to say that “the other sunset dimmer is used in my mother-in-law's bedroom; she forgets to turn off the light before she goes to bed. The dimmer is set on dim to off setting. This eliminates me getting up at 3:00 AM to turn off the light. I now sleep through the night without waking up to turn off the light. It has also saved me money on my electric bill."

And, in fact, given the fact that the Sunset Dimmer sells for just around 15 US dollars, we're pretty sure that users will be able to save quite a lot of money, at least on long term.
