Hardware will allow for a deeper experience with the game

With the launch of the PlayStation Vita just a few months away developers are already thinking how to make sure that their games run as well as possible on the new handheld, with some getting ready to design hardware add-ons.

Yoshinori Ono, who is the producer working Street Fighter X Tekken, spoke to Joystiq at the Tokyo Games Show and said, “You can’t replicate the experience entirely on a portable, but I think if we made a small joystick that you could just keep in your bag, and maybe even if you’re in economy class, whip it out during a flight, put your Vita in there, and replicate to some degree the arcade experience, it would be really awesome.”

It seems that the new hardware add-on might be created by Mad Catz.

He also added, “With the PS3 and the Vita, yes, they’re different hardware, but they’re part of the same Playstation family, so to speak, so we’re already talking with Sony about ways to sync things together.”

This will basically mean that the player only needs to use the same PlayStation Network account on the Vita and on the PlayStation 3 in order to get some cross platform action.

This might even mean that a gamer could buy the game on one platform and get access to a free version or a heavily discounted one on the other device.

The developer has also confirmed that Capcom is planning to launch both free and paid for downloadable content for Street Fighter X Tekken, including new characters and costume swaps.

The game will arrive on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and Xbox 360 and is currently set to launch on March 2 of next year.

A Tekken X Street Fighter variation is also being planned, with very different mechanics and development handled by Namco Bandai.
