It will teach and challenge players at the same time

The Street Fighter franchise is one of the most popular fighting series of games out there, winning over a huge amount of fans ever since it was launched in the classic arcades quite a long time ago. The multitude of players, each coming from various parts of the world with the same goal, to become the best fighter, brought the series a lot of fans in every country.

Now it seems that Capcom wants to revive its fighting franchise and has placed its team to work on two titles. The first one, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, which was already launched on the PlayStation Network and on the Xbox Live Arcade, is an HD revamp of one of the most popular games in the series. The second project, Street Fighter IV, is envisioned as a 3D take on the fighting series, and will feature a lot of popular players from the first game, as well as a few new ones.

The game, which will be launched on February 17 in North America and on the 20th in Europe, promises to offer players a completely new experience with their beloved characters. Because there has been such a long hiatus since the latest game in the franchise, it seems that the development team, advised by professional Street Fighter player turned community manager Seth Killian, has introduced a new Trial Mode, in which players will be required to perform different special moves in order to pass it.

“I want to make it clear that it starts you with actual basics,” says Killian. “It begins with normal moves, then it goes on to specials, supers, ultras, two-in-one combos, chains into specials, links into specials and then finally, how to put it all together. We teach you what the pros refer to as 'bread-and-butter' combos, as well as focus cancel techniques that are useful to your particular character. So in that way, it's definitely challenging, but in my opinion it’s a rewarding challenge.”

It's really nice to hear that Capcom has focused on teaching all the players the special moves found in the game, as this decision will certainly make a lot of gamers interested in it, even though they didn't really master the other games in the series. Let's hope that Street Fighter IV will live up to the expectations of both the fans and the whole gaming industry.
