SteelSeries, a company well renowned for its high-quality gaming peripherals, has just announced the introduction of a new mouse designed specifically for WoW players, which is known as the World of Warcraft MMO Gaming Mouse Legendary Edition.

SteelSeries's latest creation is a more compact version of the WoW mice previously released by the company and it sports pretty much the same feature set even though the overall dimensions have gone down.

At its heart stands an optical sensor capable of recording 3,600 frames per second, with a maximum resolution of 3,200 dpi (the lower limit is 800dpi), which is paired with 11 programmable buttons.

Users can configure these buttons straight from the World of Warcraft game interface or they can use the custom SteelSeries software and its drag & drop interface, which has more than 130 preset game commands available.

As all the other gaming mice that are released nowadays, the Legendary Edition is also capable of displaying an impressive light show (that serious gamers will disable in an instant) thanks to its 16.8 million illumination color options and 4 levels of pulsation.

“We’ve established an incredible partnership with Blizzard Entertainment and the amazing World of Warcraft community,” said Bruce Hawver, SteelSeries CEO.

“We’ve taken all the excellent suggestions and feedback we’ve received, merged it with the latest gaming technology, and come up with a truly unique lineup of MMO Mice for World of Warcraft players.

“The new Legendary Edition allows us to meet the needs of gamers looking for a smaller, less complex gaming mouse that delivers the same impressive functionality found in the original and Cataclysm versions,” concluded the company's CEO.

The World of Warcraft Legendary Mouse will be available in late September both from online and brick and mortar retailers for $79.99 US, or €69.99.
