SteelSeries appears to have chosen one of the oldest tricks in the book when it made its newest headset, namely leverage the fame of a popular video game to boost the kick of its own hardware.

When it comes to audio solutions, there are several things that gamers probably can't do without, and this extends to more than just the sound card.

While the sound board itself has to be just as high-end as the graphics and CPU, the audio output also has to be top-tier.

In other words, gamers and enthusiasts always have powerful speaker systems and/or headphones/headsets capable of filling their ears, or their rooms, with every sound that the audio card can render.

SteelSeries is one of the companies that deals in such things, and it seems that the new headsets it made has one extra asset as well.

Basically, the 5Hv2 Headset Medal of Honor Edition and the Spectrum 5xb Medal of Honor Edition for Xbox 360, as they are called, were developed in collaboration with Electronic Arts, the developer of said game.

Armed with a retractable microphone, the newcomers can be broken down into three pieces, so that storage or travel can come easily.

Availability is scheduled for the second quarter of the ongoing year and is described in great detail on their respective product pages, found on the official website.

“It was a pleasure to work with the EA team to optimize and create an amazing design for these new PC and Xbox 360 headsets,” said Bruce Hawver, SteelSeries CEO. “Medal of Honor players will enjoy comfort and incredible sound reproduction, improving their precision and performance in game.”

As one may have guessed, users that enjoy shooters and other games which need quick reaction and benefit from immersion will benefit most from the use of these headsets.
