BioWare has just deployed a brand new patch for its Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO, this time to fix the variety of exploits related to its Player versus Player mechanics, which appeared after the recent release of update 1.1, also known as Rise of the Rakghouls.

Star Wars: The Old Republic had a pretty smooth launch last month but, ever since it went online for the general public, a variety of glitches and issues were encountered by players. The first major patch, 1.1, was supposed to eliminate many of them, while adding two new pieces of content.

As we heard yesterday, however, it seems that the patch did more harm than good, especially when it came to the Ilum PvP area. This was practically flooded with players that wanted higher rewards for their enemy kills, many of which uncovered a special glitch with the turrets found in enemy bases.

BioWare acknowledged the issues and has now deployed a brand new patch for the online game that, hopefully, will fix these issues.

"Our intended design for Ilum Open World PvP is that players are instantly killed when entering the enemy's base safe area, just like in Warzones, and that the defending faction can take taxis to other points within the zone," BioWare said about its purpose. As we saw, however, things didn’t exactly go that way.

The small patch also reduces the population limit for Ilum, meaning players eager to fight against others will have to wait their turn before entering the area. Valor Gains were also changed, so check out BioWare’s detailed explanation below.

"Regarding Valor gains, with the 1.1 update, players now receive a base reward of 20 Valor per unique enemy player defeated in a short time, and this base reward is modified by the number of objectives that the player's faction owns. The gains are rate limited per player killed, encouraging players to attack unique players, not to pursue vendettas," the developer mentioned.

Last but not least, the studio said that it’s been made aware of players who “took extreme advantage of the situation” and that it’s now deciding how to punish them for their exploits.
