Video game developer BioWare and publisher Electronic Arts have announced that their MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic will get a number of significant changes to the economic model of the game, designed to make it easier for players to get access to all the content it has to offer.

The biggest change is a significant price cut linked to the licenses needed to use speeder vehicles, which will make them more widespread in the game world.

Ever since the late December launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic, the player base has complained that getting access to a speeder required too much grinding linked to the high price, and the developers promised that it would look for ways to make vehicles easier to obtain and use.

The official announcement from the Star Wars: The Old Republic blog states, “As we work to create a more player-driven economy, you can expect significant improvements to Crew skills, and an extension of Crew skill gameplay, such as item creation and research, into the Elder-Game content.

“You’ll also see new items brought into the game, including new schematics, Legacy items, a new tier of Player vs Player and Player vs Environment weapons and armor, Legacy items, new schematics, and the ability to extract base-mods from purple items, as well as many other changes and improvements.”

It is worth heading to the official website of the MMO in order to read the vehicle-related announcements that are written as press releases coming from in-game corporations.

It seems that the Sovereign, the Prince, Baron and Commander speeders are now out of the game, alongside the Prime model.

Bioware has recently asked for players who live around Austin in Texas to test a number of area and Flashpoints that are linked to the end-game of the MMO.

The company has also suggested that it plans to deliver more content updates in the coming months, including at least one significant new game mechanic.
