Lightsaber Duels and Jedi Alliance announced

With the next-gen platforms getting the Force Unleashed in September this year, the Nintendo Wii and DS owners were surely starting to feel ignored. But LucasArts has no intention to let its fans disappointed, so it has decided to bring The Clone Wars to Nintendo's consoles. The game will be released during this Holiday season and promises to bring the quality required to make you forget about the next-gen unleash of the Force.

OK, I know that it is not exactly the greatest thing in the world to find out that a game initially released in 2002 will make its way to the Wii and DS, but at least it is something, especially since it will come with improved graphics and state-of-the-art cutscenes, even for the handheld version.

The Wii game will be subtitled Lightsaber Duels and will be developed by Krome Studios. It promises to deliver fun-filled Lightsaber battles for the whole family (I don't quite get it how dueling against your mom could be fun, but I guess we'll soon find out). Characters, locations and epic duels from the new Star Wars animated series will be found in the game and, as a bonus, you should know that it was actually built from the ground up - no need to worry you'll get a clone (no pun intended).

The DS version of the game will be subtitled Jedi Alliance and it will be developed by the LucasArts Singapore team. It will offer players the chance to experiment what happens when two Jedi join forces to fight as one. We can tell you what happens: epic battles and unlimited Lightsaber fun. Plain and simple!

"Working on The Clone Wars chapter of the Star Wars Saga has been an exciting endeavor for everyone here at LucasArts," said Feargus Carroll, project lead for LucasArts Singapore. "The intuitive and accessible gameplay on both the Wii and the Nintendo DS complement one of the most exciting Star Wars adventures yet."

So, here you are! If you're a Nintendo DS or Wii fanboy and you don't own a PS3, Xbox 360 or PC system capable of running The Force unleashed, you'll get your own piece of the Star Wars universe to enjoy.
