Gamers will be able to play together locally

The development team at DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are determined to feed the fan base some new information and images taken from the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront, and today it's time for a look at how local coop will look in the shooter.

The official Twitter account of the game shows a screenshot that seems to be taken directly from the engine, showing two characters from the Rebel side as they enter a rather complicated situation on Endor.

Their enemies include a pair of stormtroopers and an AT-ST that lurks in the distance and could engage at any moment.

The fact that Star Wars Battlefront will support local cooperative play is a good way of making sure that players can show the game experience to a friend, which in turn can lead to increased sales for the experience.

The developers also seem eager to show that the graphics quality of the title will not be downgraded even if the engine will need to render two perspectives at the same time.

DICE is not saying from which version of Star Wars Battlefront the image was taken and whether there will be differences in the way local cooperative play will be handled on the PC, the Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4.

The new Star Wars title will be focused on the original movie trilogy

Given that the new The Force Awakens film will be introduced later in the year, fans might expect the developers to include a range of elements taken from it in the shooter.

But Electronic Arts and DICE have made it clear that they are trying to bring the original trilogy to life, introducing levels based on the battles that were shown or referenced in it.

The main feature of the new Star Wars Battlefront will be a Hero system that allows gamers to spend a limited amount of time playing as a very powerful character, including Darth Vader and presumably Jedi.

For those who watch The Force Awakens, DICE is creating a free piece of downloadable content called Battle of Jakku, which will be introduced in early December, first for those who place a pre-order.

Star Wars Battlefront will be launched on November 17 all over the world and can be played on the PS4, the Xbox One and the PC.
