DS gamers were sure to be promised some nice titles from today's famous developers at this year's GC convention in Leipzig, Germany. As such, an official report recently posted on the Internet reveals that publisher Square Enix Europe (and other PAL territories as well) has dated Heroes of Mana for 14th September 2007 exclusively on the Nintendo DS.

Basically, Heroes of Mana is a real-time strategy title making superb use of the handheld's touchscreen capabilities, having been developed exclusively for it. The World of Mana series goes one step further with this latest addition coming from Square Enix as it is being taken into a completely new realm of real-time strategy.

Planning, plotting and employing strategy will be key features in ensuring victory on the battlefield, according to the same report. Gamers will also be able to challenge friends in head-to-head multiplayer across DS Wireless play, or compare their performances against players worldwide using Heroes Rankings via the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection.

John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Ltd. comments: "We're very excited to be bringing HEROES of MANA to Europe. The fans of the MANA series will enjoy a stimulating new approach to the series. We hope that HEROES of MANA will become a milestone in the real-time strategy genre for Nintendo DS."

Here are some of the game's main features. Chew on them while waiting for the game to launch:

■ Real-time strategy that makes full use of the Nintendo DS Touch Screen - the intuitive control scheme allows players to lead armies, build bases and vanquish their foes entirely through the use of the Nintendo DS stylus ■ Intense head-to-head multiplayer allows friends to challenge each other via DS Wireless Communications ■ Command heroes and monsters alike from the MANA series and lead them to victory on the battlefield ■ The signature MANA art style comes to life in a fantastic blend of 2D and 3D environments ■ KINGDOM HEARTS series composer Yoko Shimomura delivers a stirring soundtrack that captures the essence of the WORLD of MANA series;
