In the not too distant future, US mobile phone carrier Sprint is expected to make available for purchase on its network a new Android-based device from ZTE, one that was spotted online with model number N8910 attached to it, and which is said to feature the name of Quantum.

The smartphone has recently emerged online with Google’s Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top, and with mid- to high-end hardware specifications packed inside.

According to a recent article on Android Police, the new mobile phone should sport a 5-inch touchscreen display when released, capable of delivering a 720p HD resolution.

Furthermore, it will be powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB of RAM, 1.5GB ROM, and 4GB of internal memory.

The handset will also feature a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, and support for Sprint’s 4G LTE network for fast connectivity options.

Furthermore, ZTE Quantum is said to sport a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for HD video recording, we assume, along with a 0.9MP front-facing camera to enable users to make video calls while on the go.

The specs list of this smartphone is also said to include NFC connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth, Adreno 225 graphics, and capacitive buttons.

All in all, the new device might prove to be an appealing smartphone at Sprint, provided that it is paired with an affordable price tag, though it remains to be seen how much it will cost when made official.

The phone hasn’t been officially unveiled for the time being, but it is said to have already received the necessary approvals from Wi-Fi and DLNA certification forums, which suggests that it is indeed set to hit shelves sooner rather than later.

Until more info on ZTE Quantum becomes available, you should have a look at the hands-on photos with it that Android Police has published.
